Legend of the Meunier
The "meunier" is in Champagne the second most planted grape variety, after pinot noir but before chardonnay . It is also dominant in the supplies of Champagne Beaumont des Crayeres.
Today, young shoots in our vines give a clue to the origin of its name ... The cottony fluff that covers them would result from the distraction of a miller. The doors remained open would have left his mill flour spread on the surrounding vineyards, giving birth to the Pinot Meunier !
